I came here yesterday and I must say I WILL BE BACK FOR STARTERS!!! The service was outstanding by Ben and what was ordered will definitely be ordered again. First the Seafood Gumbo was pretty good and packed with ingredients. It was a mildly spicy dark roux with shrimp, crab, crawfish, andouille pork sausage, okra, & rice and just right!! Now the Soft Shell Crab Appetizer almost stole the show due to how good it was. It is one medium sized soft shell crab dusted in flour and flash-fried; served atop smoked tomato beurre blanc and laced with house-made tartar sauce. The Beignets stole the show with it's soft flufiness once you take a bite into it but don't take a bite until you've smothered some of their Strawberry Coulis Sauce onto them.. Their French Beignets are Cafe Du Monde Style and BOMB!! Powdered Sugar all on em too!!! For the items I did try out MORE ITEMS WILL BE HAD AND MORE TIMES SPENT HERE!!! IMMA GIVE BUD'S A 10 OUT OF 10 FOR WHAT WAS HAD.
Shrimp and grits was tasty and rich. Etouffe had enough crawfish for each bite and was very good. Everything we ordered was very tasty. Great service too.
We had a work lunch at Bud’s Louisiana Café, and everyone was impressed! The service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The food was outstanding, especially the Louisiana chicken, which was creamy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. It was the perfect spot for a group meal, and the whole team left happy. Highly recommend for both casual dining and work gatherings!
Hidden gem in Convoy area. Their food and service are phenomenal. It was my first and best Creole food experience. I felt like, if southern food is this good, I should visit more southern restaurants! But ever since I visited here, I have been trying to find a good new orleans food place, but couldn’t find one that compares here. Would want to revisit soon!
Amazing food. My Chinese, Spanish & Italian friends all loved it. We got the following for 250 * Cornbread Muffin x5 * Fried softshell crab * Alligator sausage * Gumbo (seafood soup) * Jambalaya (seafood fried rice) * Blackned catfish * Creole Pecan Parfait * Blueberry cheesecake * Mousse * Drinks
This is actually a review for their previous location downtown, Bud and Rob's. They had a similar menu and I can't recommend it enough. When I was doing jury duty I sought out local places for lunch, and this was the only place I went to two days in a row. I even took out of towners here for dinner and have tried most of the menu. The first time I went I got the seafood bisque, soft shell crab and a sweet tea Arnold Palmer. I thought it could not get any better. When I returned I ordered the fried catfish over the crawfish etouffee. This would literally be my death row meal. The catfish was perfectly fried and the etouffee was the most delicious, decadent thing I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. This meal haunts me. It's all I ever want. Gumbo is supreme. Red beans and rice is delectable. You cannot go wrong with anything on this menu. I felt very special when the person behind the counter recognized me on my second, third, and subsequent visits. I unfortunately moved away from San Diego, but will be sure to visit whenever I return. Please check the picture of the catfish plate to understand just how amazing that order is. I could eat it 5 times a week and still crave the flavor. This is a San Diego hidden gem that should be one of the most popular spots in the area. Enjoy the quick service and mellow atmosphere before everyone else catches on.
We've been to this location many times but never left a review! The food and service are always excellent. We ordered the Breakfast Shrimp & Grits as well as the Jambalaya and Eggs Bowl. They both came with a complimentary jalapeño cornbread which was delicious. The meal is flavorful and seasoned perfectly. It was a rainy morning but the meal was perfect to warm us up. We also got the iced black tea as recommended by our server. Definitely recommend trying this place out!
